Lynsay Hay graduated in Illustration, in 2004 from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. She went on to do a Post Graduate Diploma in Theatre Design at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Lynsay then worked as a Freelance Artist/Design Assistant with some of Scotland’s leading Theatre companies.
After having family and taking a career break to stay at home with her 3 children. Lynsay returned to her first passion of painting and illustrating in 2015 and works from her home studio in Perthshire.  

Lynsay is inspired by her surrounding Scottish landscape and how the colours and patterns change with the weather, times and seasons. She works in a bright distinctive palette in acrylics using palette knifes and brushes and other implements to create different textures and marks. Lynsay works primarily from her memory and imagination using photographs and colour clippings for reference.  Working the painting up in layers and blocks of colour she uses glazing techniques to allow the under colours to come through and builds her textures and marks in the final layer.
