NoaArt
In 2007 Jennifer and her family moved from Scotland to New Zealand for six years.
The houses in New Zealand are roofed with corrugated iron sheets, giving many the appearance of an elaborate shed. This was a real shock at first. This experience gave Jennifer a deep love for the sturdy stone and slate of Scotland’s but ‘n’ ben’s, Inspiring her art pieces and their slate mounts along the way.
Since returning from New Zealand, Jennifer had her fourth child, a little girl, named Noa. Her artwork is signed in her name, which means “free from restriction” in Maori. Jennifer explains: "There isn’t a word which could sum up my abstract and heavily textured interpretation of Scotland, the land of the free more perfectly."
Jennifer's husband, Clark, cuts each slate mount by hand before applying a finish that brings out their unique grain. The glossy ceramic art contrasts beautifully with the rugged slate surrounding.
